The UBC is thirty minutes drive from the heart of down town Vancouver. The University boasts some of the city’s best attractions and recreation facilities including the Museum of Anthropology, the Chan Centre for Performing Arts, the UBC Botanical Gardens and endless forested trails in the adjoining 763-hectare Pacific Spirit Regional Park.

There are three campuses - main, south and east - and although many buildings are quite new, the University’s history actually dates back to 1877.

The UBC is affiliated with several research institutes including the Riverview Hospital and Vancouver Hospital. Teaching and research are conducted in 12 faculties and 11 schools, each offering a broad range of programs. Other academic opportunities include co-op learning, in which studies are combined with real-world work experience, and exchange programs, which allow students to spend one or two terms at a foreign university.

The Simon Fraser University is consistently ranked among the top comprehensive universities in Canada, and is ranked second in the Macleans Ranking Report 2002. It offers more than 100 programmes in five faculties, which bring in more than $20million in research each year. 

The faculties are:

Applied Science, Arts, Business Administration, Education and Science

Located on top of Burnaby Mountain, it is a 20-minute drive from down town Vancouver and is half an hour from three local ski hills.
