Meet the Islamic Education mentors on the Madinah and Bab Summer Courses – Part 1

Updated 19 June 2013

Over the next few weeks, we will be introducing you to the mentors that have been selected to accompany the group this year.

1. Sister Musarrat Pyarali – Montreal, Canada
Born in Congo, Musarrat moved to Canada at the age of 9 and has been residing in Montreal since. Chartered accountant by day and knowledge seeker by night, Musarrat has been working full time for an auditing firm since she completed her Graduate Diploma in Chartered Accountancy in 2011.

Active member of 2 Canadian charitable organizations, Musarrat loves to serve the community. Her hobbies include writing, baking and travelling to new places. She also has a profound interest in learning languages as she fluently speaks four languages (English, French, Gujrati and Urdu) and is now learning Spanish. Musarrat has also authored articles on present-day politics that have been published in local newspapers.

After attending the Madinah al-Ilm camp as a student last year, Musarrat was motivated to apply as a mentor this year due to the inspirational & unforgettable experiences she was blessed with during the 2012 camp.

Musarrat says: ‘This course has the ability to change the life of all its participants and I sincerely want to be a part of it for the sake of Allah (swt) and the happiness of the Imam (as) of our time. It’s a once in a lifetime chance to acquire spiritual growth, tranquility of the soul & firmness in faith. I cannot wait for this challenge; let the countdown begin!’

2. Sister Arrouge Naqvi – Watford, UK
Sister Arrouge is originally of Kashmiri decent but grew up in greater Manchester. She loves reading and writing poetry as well as cooking in her spare time. Her particular passion is to provide youths with guidance through the teachings of the Ahlul Bayt (as). This desire and passion led her to undertake a degree in Islamic Studies.

Arrouge states: ‘I am very much looking forward to this trip because it will give me a chance to interact with youth as well as other mentors and enable me to spread the knowledge of the Ahlul Bayt (as) to the best of my ability. I believe knowledge is beneficial for the advancement of human beings, however, through silence and contemplation one can attain the heights of spirituality and knowledge. Hence Imam Ali (a) said: "Learn to be quiet just as you learn to talk, because if talking guides you, being quiet protects you. By being quiet, you attain two characteristics; you are able to take knowledge from those more knowlegeable than you and you are able to repel the ignorance of those more ignorant than you."’
