Over the next few weeks, we will be introducing you to the mentors that have been appointed to accompany the group this year.
5. Azmina Mawjee – South London, UK
Azmina recently moved to London from Dubai where she lived for 15 years. She has graduated with a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography and currently works in a hospital in Croydon.
After having done A-levels in Religious Studies at Madressa, Azmina decided it was time to give back to the community and became a teacher at the Hyderi Saturday Madressa where she taught Arabic & Qur’an. This gave her a sense of satisfaction as she was able to impart knowledge to the youths.
Azmina says: ‘Being presented with an opportunity to be a mentor in Iran, I consider myself very fortunate. This would allow me to enhance my spirituality, and put myself forward to being a role model for the mentees, as well as assist them in consolidating and reaffirming their faith and knowledge along with encouraging them to call upon our 12th Imam and hasten his return. Furthermore, my presence will give me the opportunity to seek help from my Imams, strengthen my iman and return with a valuable experience. It isn’t often one is blessed with the favour of being invited as a visitor at the home of Imam Raza (a.s) and inshallah I pray on this occasion my duties are fulfilled not only as a Shia but also but as a member of our community.’
