Meet the Islamic Education mentors on the Madinah and Bab Summer Courses – Part 4

Updated 13 June 2012

Over the next few weeks, we will be introducing you to the mentors that have been appointed to accompany the group this year.

6. Miqdad Alidina – Wessex, UK (currently studying in Qum)
Miqdad grew up in Burundi before moving to Southampton, England, for his university studies. He now has an MPhil in Cancer research.  He has recently moved to Iran to begin his Hawza studies.

Miqdad enjoys playing football and most other sports, loves to read, especially about politics.

Miqdad comments: ‘It is a real blessing to be joining the summer camp this year, and I look forward to meeting youth from all over the world, joining them in their journey to explore spirituality, beliefs and experiencing the life in a beautiful Islamic country, around scholars of high calibre.’

7. Qassim Mawjee – South London, UK
Qassim Mawjee was born and brought up in Dubai and came to London when he was 15. He completed his GCSEs and A levels and will be starting his third year at Queen Mary University studying Aerospace Engineering.

Qassim is a keen sportsman and actively plays football for different clubs including Hyderi Jamaat, his university and his current employer.

Qassim states: ‘I have been fortunate many times to visit the Holy Ma’sumeen in Iraq and Syria but have been to Iran only once before. I pray to Allah that this trip is not only beneficial to me but the mentees that I would be working with. This is an exciting opportunity for us to wash away our sins. Furthermore, the fact that we have the unique opportunity to spend a few nights under the gaze of Bibi Masooma-e-Qum in Iran during the month of Ramadhan is truly an honour and a great blessing. I feel privileged to have this opportunity of working with youths from many different and diverse backgrounds who will together experience a variety of cultures and opinions and what this brings to the general summit is invaluable. I want this journey to enrich my understanding of contemporary issues and no doubt I will work effortlessly in delivering the message of the of the Ahlulbayt not only this year but for the years to come, Inshallah.’
