Updated 21 March 2012

“At the age of 15, he was titled Fakhrul Fazil (glory of the erudite) and in his early age he became well versed with seven languages,” said Ayatullah Taskhiri (The Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought) in his address regarding Allamah Syed Saeed Akhtar Rizvi, during the commemoration held by Al Mustafa International University in Qum. He continued praising Allamah’s preaching and his presence in Africa for about 43 years as a great service by him to Islam. He added that Allamah has written about 200 books out of which around 40 books have been translated and published in different languages.

Hujjat al-Islam Agha Ilmi, the deputy head of the research department of Al Mustafa International University, stated, “It was due to the preaching of Allamah in Africa, that thousands of people accepted Islam and the path of Ahlul Bayt (as).” He added that the translation of Tafsir Al Mizan into English remains one of his greatest achievements, 13 volumes of which have already been published.

Allamah Sayyed Saeed Akhtar Rizvi was the founder of the Bilal Muslim Mission and then served as Chief Missionary in the organization. He initiated the propagation of the Shiite faith to the indigenous African Community. To date, Bilal Muslim Mission has established 58 centers with 2 Hawzas and more than 20 mosques in the region.

His son, Syed Muhammad Rizvi, was honoured in the absence of Allamah. On this occasion Shaykh Murtaza Alidina, Al-hajj Anwarali bhai Dharamsi (AFED Chairman), Al-hajj Shabbir bhai Somji (BMMT Chairman) and Al-hajj Muhammad bhai Dhirani (former AFED Chairman) were invited to the programme as the chief guests.
