Allah (s.w.t) says in the Holy Quran “…they are clothing for you and you are clothing for them…” [Sûrah al-Baqarah: 187].
Such a beautiful verse about the relationship between spouses, but how often do we understand its real meaning or even take the time to sit and ponder about the message Allah (s.w.t) is trying to give us through the Holy Quran. We often take our spouses for granted and search for solutions to our problems outside, whilst the answer lies within us.
The Prophet says, “No house has been built in Islam more beloved in the sight of Allah than through marriage.” On another occasion the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “The best people of my nation (Ummat) are those who get married and have chosen their wives, and the worst people of my nation are those who have kept away from marriage and are passing their lives as bachelors.” The 2 day couples workshop introduced us to the practical application of many such verses and traditions.

“If you fail to prepare, prepare to fail,” this was the first and one of the most important things we took away from the workshop at Khandala. The course introduced us to 3 golden principles of marriage namely love, respect and peace which play an important role in every successful marriage. In the two successive days we not only solved a lot of problems but became aware that the solution lies within us. The workshop organized by The World Federation of KSIMC and hosted by brother Abbas Merali and co-hosted by Maulana Ehsaan Haider Jawadi opened our hearts and minds and to a new dimension of marital relationship. Most importantly, we explored our own selves and our hidden potential and its importance in building a successful marriage.
The two days were an eye opener for many couples and we hope and pray that more such courses are held to build relationships. We express our heartfelt gratitude to brother Abbas Merali, Maulana Ehsaan Haider Jawadi and Asad Virani and Sister Zainab Virani of The World Federation and all those who worked behind the scenes in making this event a huge success.
It would be extremely unjust of us if we fail to thank Mrs. Shaheen Merali and Mrs.Ehsaan Haider Jawadi that despite their absence they made their presence felt through the words of their husbands. If I am permitted to sum it up in one sentence, it would be: “Wonderful planning beautiful execution.” Alhamdolillah.
