The World Federation’s India Office took a further step in its endeavor to uplift the scholars in India. Today, there are more English speaking members of the community and hence there is a continuous demand for English speakers. The program is aimed at providing English language training to these students who will be tomorrow’s Ulema.

The office successfully started English classes for the Hawza students at Jamea Ameerul Momineen (as) at Najafi House Mumbai in October this year. The Hawza’s management has handpicked 12 students for the course. The criteria employed were previous English background and an inclination to learn the language.

The students are excited to learn the language and have welcomed the innovative method like Drama & Role play along with the standard textbook methods of teaching.

“Once this pilot project is successful it shall be extended to the other Hawzas in India too” commented Sayyed Aliraza Naqvi, Assistant Sec. General Islamic Education. He further added, “This is a small step which will have a big boost to tableegh once the new Ulema complete the program. Many opportunities await the Ulema on completion of the program”

The teacher Komail Merchant quoted “The students are very responsive and it seems like a long unsatisfied thirst of the students to learn English is going to be quenched”

Afroz Ali, a student of the class, remarked “I have never learnt any language in such a different style where speaking is given more importance than grammar”
