JANNAT-UL-BAQEE

Jannatul Baqee is the most sanctified graveyard of Madinah. It is where Ashab of Rasul ( S.A.W. ) and the lovers of Ahlul Bayt ( A.S. ) are buried.
Inside Baqee are the graves of :-

a) Janabe Fatima Zehra ( A.S. )

b) Imam Hassan ( A.S. )

c) Imam Zainul Abedeen ( A.S. )

d) Imam Mohammed Baqeer ( A.S. )

e) Imam Jaffer Sadiq ( A.S. )

f) Janabe Fatema Binte Asad - mother of Imam Ali ( A.S. )

g) Grave of Ummul Baneen - wife of Imam Ali ( A.S. ) and mother of Hazrat Abbas ( A.S. )

h) Janabe Halimah-e-Saadiya - the wet nurse of Prophet ( S.A.W. )

i) Graves of Janabe Safiya and Janabe Atika - Paternal aunts of Prophet ( S.A.W. )

j) Three adopted daughters of Prophet (S.A.W.) - Janabe Ruqayya, Umme Kulthum and Zaynab.

k) The wives of Prophet ( S.A.W. ) including Umme Salma.

l) The injured shohada of the battle of Ohad who were brought to Madinah and later died were buried in Baqee.

m) Hazrat Abbas - Uncle of the Prophet (S.A.W.).

n) Janabe Ibrahim - He was the son of Prophet ( S.A.W. ) and brother of Bibi Fatema Zehra (A.S.). One day Angel Jibrail came to the Prophet ( S.A.W. ) on whose lap were Ibrahim ( A.S. ) and Imam Husein ( A.S. ). Jibrail conveyed to the Prophet ( S.A.W. ) the message of Allah for the sacrifice of one of them. The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) said that he will sacrifice Ibrahim (A.S.) and save Imam Husein ( A.S. ).

Inside Baqee, women's graves are marked by two headstones and men's by one stone.

Outside Baqee, there was a grave of Hazrat Ismail ( A.S. ), son of our 6th Imam - Imam Jaffer Sadique ( A.S. ). This has now been demolished and taken inside.
