The World Federation has been working towards the provision of education through the Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme for 30 years.
The World Federation’s education objective is to empower communities with the ability to become self-sufficient. The most efficient method of reducing illiteracy is through education.
We aim to enable growth and progress in communities through educating individuals. This will create a generation of skilled individuals who will work together to lift their communities out of poverty.
Amar and Salim’s were two students who had been sponsored by the Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme, and today they are examples of The World Federation’s achieving its education objective.
Amar Mruu’s Story
Amar grew up in Jimba, a rural area in the Kilifi, district of Kenya. As a hardworking student Amar was assisted by the Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme to complete his Secondary and further education. Amar graduated from Secondary school and then continued onward to study Architecture in Mombasa.
He now works as an Architectural Draughtsman for the Twin Peaks Development Corporation. He also volunteers with our agency in Kenya, offering advice and expertise on any capital projects they undertake, such as the construction of schools, hospitals or housing projects.
These are prime examples of how individuals and their communities in turn are reaping the benefits of the Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme.
Each and every student we sponsor has the drive and the potential to achieve great things.
Salim Ndegwa Chiro’s Story
Salim hails from Chengoni village in the Kinango district of Kenya. He attained a diploma in Mass Communication from Mombasa Polytechnic University College. The Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme assisted Salim with his secondary and further education. It was during his time at secondary school that Salim realised the immense struggle that the poorest students go through. He shared his experience with us in a poignant letter, as follows:
It was during my time in High School that I came to realise the importance of education and I wanted to share my realisation. This became my goal in life.
In High school, I came into contact with students of diverse nationalities from rich families. When I realised how financially disadvantaged my family was, I vowed to fight poverty and dependency to attain financial freedom for my family and myself. After years of hard work, I currently work as a radio presenter and producer for the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation. As I know that education is the key to success, I have been instrumental in coming up with ideas for educative and informative radio programmes that assist students in achieving better results at school. Finally, I am also financially stable. Moreover, I can support my two sisters through school and take care of my parents.
There are many students who continue to do great things after having been empowered with education and it is our duty as the followers of the Ahlul-Bayt to enable this growth and to continue to sustain it.
The Holy Prophet has said: "He who strives to grant the needs of his brother in faith is like he has worshiped Allah for nine thousand years, fasting his days and praying his nights." Bihar al-Anwar, volume 74, page 315, Hadith 72
The Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme allows you that opportunity. To sponsor a child please email zcss@world-federation.org or donate online.
