Imam Ali (AS), in his description of Islam, said, 'It is the brightest of all paths, the clearest of all passages, with towering minarets, brightly lit highways and illuminating lamps.’ [Nahj al-Balagha, Sermon 106]
Something exciting is happening across Pakistan. Town after town, mosques, imambaras and madrasahs sponsored through The World Federation’s 40 Islamic Centres in 40 Days Appeal are nearing completion.
The 40 Islamic Centres in 40 Days Appeal was launched in Muharram 1432 in response to the 203 Shia Islamic Centres that were destroyed by the flood waters that devastated Pakistan in July 2010. The aim of this project was to rebuild these Islamic Centres to restore communities and revive Islam across Pakistan’s flood affected areas through the teachings and guidance of the Ahlul Bayt (AS). The appeal was launched worldwide and thanks to donors from Africa, Australia, Europe, North America and Middle East, the campaign raised enough funds to rebuild 105 Centres in the remote and disadvantaged areas of Pakistan’s rural areas.
Construction of these Centres began in January 2011 and was expected to take about one year to complete. Today, Phase One of the rebuilding is near completion and so many families are looking forward to benefitting from their new place of worship.
The World Federation takes this opportunity to sincerely thank each and every donor and sponsor for their part in bringing this project to reality. Thanks to your donation, we are addressing a critical need in so many villages where we saw that Islam was beginning to vanish. Individual sponsors will be receiving a personalized report of their sponsored Centre(s) as soon as construction is completed. The estimated completion date for Phase One is December 2011.
