Every day, an estimated 675 children die in Mogadishu due to the lack of proper food or water. The rise in food prices and months without proper rainfall caused a major humanitarian crisis. Thousands of people have abandoned their homes and walked hundreds of miles to Mogadishu in search for food and clean water. However upon their arrival in the city, they settled in cramped tent cities or Internally Displaced People (IDP) campsites. There are 450,000 displaced people living in these campsites across the Somali capital.

In a meeting with The President of The World Federation, The Mayor of Mogadishu said, "Once Famine hit Somalia, there was an unexpected influx of IDP's to Mogadishu and the city was not prepared for such an eventuality." The people who settle down in an IDP campsite are exposed to very cramped and rough conditions, while receiving only one meal a day due to the severe lack of food.

The World Federation in partnership with Africa Federation is currently delivering urgent food aid to Mogadishu. Your donation of £20 could buy a family of 7 enough food for a month. The World Federation is also working towards the provision of water and healthcare to those in need.

The Secretary General of The World Federation of KSIMC, Shan-E-Abbas Hassam, said, "It is devastating to see children dying on a daily basis because of the lack of food, and it is essential that we do everything in our power to help the mothers across the region so they don't lose more children to the famine." He added, "It is our duty to ensure that we each donate as much as we can so that The World Federation can continue its efforts to provide for the region."

It is our moral duty to ensure that we increase our efforts to help the displaced and suffering people of Somalia. Aunali Khalfan, The Secretary General of Africa Federation said, “After years of civil war, deprivation and unrest, it seems this devastating famine is threatening the lives of thousands of the poor people and the innocent children of Somalia. Let us appeal to all to help us assist the displaced in Somalia”
