Ramadhan Relief 1433:  Second Annual ‘Children helping Children’ campaign against hunger – make some wishes come true

Updated 18 July 2012

It’s heart-rending to see children wishing so very hard for what all the rest of us take for granted – a decent meal. Tonight, one in seven kids in the world will go to bed hungry. The World Federation’s Ramadhan Relief Fund ensures that thousands of children and orphans have enough food to eat – making the Holy month of Ramadhan a little easier.

Last Ramadhan, 27 children and youth from around the world joined our “Children helping Children’ campaign against hunger to raise awareness and funds for Ramadhan Relief. They set up their own pages on www.justgiving.com and raised over $25,000 USD / £16,000 GBP collectively!

This Ramadhan, The World Federation is once again inviting children and youth from around the world to join our second annual campaign to once again raise awareness and donations for the Ramadhan Relief Fund. The money that the children raise will provide more hot meals to thousands of hungry kids, including orphans who are counting on you to come through for them.

In these difficult times, needy children suffer more than most. For example, we have:
• Orphans in Iraq who’s fathers were killed
• Newly converted Shia children in South Africa who cannot afford a halal meal
• Children in Kenya who skip meals because of the ongoing famine there
• Community children in Bosnia who’s parents are unemployed

This project lets children help other children. Become a strong advocate for the right of every child to have access to food by joining our campaign and encouraging your family and friends to sponsor a Food Basket filled with rations that will last the entire month of for a family of 4. The cost of one Food Basket is only $30 USD-CAD / £20 GBP.

Madrasah staff, Jamaat heads, youth committees, parents and guardians - please encourage the children in your communities to participate in this global effort. Hold a community-wide fundraiser and see the difference we can make together!
