Yusuf is a dedicated brother in faith who lives in Johannesburg, South Africa and attends the local Shia centre there. He came to the members of the Centre with a document from the Sheriff of the High Court notifying him that his house would be repossessed if he did not pay the outstanding balance of R23,000 owing to them. The community started a collection and raised R20,000 with the support of generous donors. The remaining balance of R3,000 was made from The World Federation’s Ramadhan Relief Fund and this contribution saved brother Yusuf’s house.
The leadership of the Centre said: “Brother Yusuf was in tears when he did not have any hope of saving his house. But Alhamdulillah, we managed to do so.”
The Ramadhan Relief Fund has helped countless Muslims across the world get through difficult situations – this is one of the many blessings of the Holy month of Ramadhan. In addition to helping Brother Yusuf, 11 other brothers and sisters in Johannesburg received assistance through this programme. Some of these individuals included:
- 2 widows
- 2 brothers who lost their jobs
- An elderly man to help him in his old age
