The Ramadhan Relief Fund has been helping people for many years. But this year (1433/2012), The World Federation distributed its largest sum ever in aid to deserving families who are grappling with poverty against insurmountable odds.
The chart below shows the total sum of Ramadhan Relief Funds allocated to both Sadaat and Non-Sadaat families each year since 2008. The total distribution (including Sadaat and Non-Sadaat) for 2012 are the highest we have committed to since the fund was launched.
This Ramadhan, The World Federation needs your support more than ever to meet the ever increasing number of people who need our help. These families have already been identified and we have begun Ramadhan Relief efforts across 16 countries. Did you know:
• 925 million people do not have enough to eat and 98 percent of them live in developing countries.
• Poorer children are almost three times as likely to be underweight as are children in the wealthiest 20 per cent of the households?
• At the end of 2011, an estimated 42.5 million people worldwide were living in a place to which they had been forcibly displaced due to conflict or persecution?
• Children born into poverty are almost twice as likely to die before the age of five as those from wealthier families?
Your donation to the Ramadhan Relief Fund is critical to the many men, women, children, orphans, seniors and the disabled who are depending on us for aid.
The Secretary General of The World Federation, Shan-E-Abbas Hassam expressed: “The World Federation has made a major financial commitment this year to its annual Ramadhan Relief Programme with a focus on meeting the critical needs of the distressed people of Syria and members of the Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri community in Africa who continue to struggle with poverty. To succeed in our aid efforts, we must raise a large sum this year. With so many people looking to us to for help, let us come together to support them with everything we have.”
