Two bomb attacks which occurred in a busy marketplace in Parachinar on Friday 26 July 2013 left 48 dead and 164 injured. The attacks took place during a time when the area was full of people busy shopping for food items for iftaar during this Holy month of Ramadhan.
The first bomb was believed to be planted on a motorcycle while the second bomb detonated about four minutes after – 400 yards away from the first.
A local doctor reported that the bodies of those killed quickly overwhelmed Parachinar’s main hospital. Large numbers of injured people were also lining the hallways in need of medical attention after the blasts. “We have no place to keep the wounded," he said on Friday night. "Many of them are lying on the hospital floor and on the lawn." 31 injured patients were transferred to Peshawar for treatment.
The World Federation was informed of these violent attacks immediately and has since received details on the 48 martyrs who lost their lives, as well as the 164 injured victims. The World Federation at once committed funds to help cover the medical costs for treating the injured. Our regional partner has been working around the clock in Parachinar to facilitate the needs of the victims and their families.

The World Federation offers its condolences to the families of all of the victims and we pray for the quick recovery of those wounded in the attacks.
