Educational Centre opens in Bam – Iran

The Ambassadors of Guidance (Safiran-e Hidayat) Centre for the Hawza Studies of Bam District was opened on 11th September 2006 by the Director of Hawza ‘Ilmiyyah Ayatullah Husaini Bushehri and the President of the World Federation Dr. Ahmed Hassam.  The President Dr Hassam addressed the gathering and said, “It is indeed gratifying to have been able to present this humble contribution as a legacy from our Community to the people of Bam”.  He went on to thank the team, the volunteers and donors that have contributed towards this project.

After the massive earthquake struck in December 2003, a fact finding team visited Bam a few weeks after and identified both, short as well as long-term areas in which we as a community can contribute and put to effective use the resources, trust and confidence placed upon the World Federation by well wishers and donors from both within as well as those outside the Community.  A proposal was presented to the office bearers and ratified by the Executive Council in February 2004.

Bam Project Head, Councillor Mohsin Kanji added, “I have no doubt this Centre will play a crucial role in countering the infiltration of forces that are anti Ahlul Bayt (AS) even in a country like Iran”.

Although the need in Bam is greater, the project was sized on the specific donations received for Bam and based on the assessment visit; this was identified as a befitting and lasting legacy to the needs of the people of Bam.
