On its annual charity day, students and teachers of Milton Keynes Madrasa yet again raised money for a charitable cause. This year it was for the victims of the earthquake in Bam, Iran. A sum of over £1,300 was raised this year.
The Charities day is a firmly established day in the calendar of the Madrasa for the past three years. The Madrasa has so far raised more than £3,000 towards various noble causes run under the World Federation. The Charities day has also generated more than 20 sponsors from Milton Keynes for the ZCSS scheme.
Various stalls are set up by the active participation of Madrasa students, together with teachers and parents. Last year, funds raised were sent to World Federation to assist in the shelters in Bihar. The previous year it was for the ‘Afghan victims’.
During his recent visit to Milton Keynes, the IRE Co-ordinater of the World Federation, Brother Nisar Sherali noted that the practice of an annual Charities Day at Madaris be listed as part of the best practices in our Madaris. It inculcates in our children the spirit to contribute towards humanitarian needs of the Ummah.
