On Saturday 5th March 2005, around 250 youth from all around the UK took part in a charity collection in aid of the ‘Iraq Relief Orphan Fund’. Collections took place in 40 tube stations around London as well as 4 shopping centres and various railway stations.

Thanks to the generosity of the people of London, £16,000 was raised. This amount is enough to sponsor 66 orphans in Baghdad for one academic year. Funds will be used to provide education, healthcare, nutrition and accommodation for the orphans.

The World Federation would like to thank the following: all those who donated for their kindness and generosity; London Underground Limited for granting us permission to collect inside the tube stations; the Tube Station Supervisors and their staff for their co-operation; the managers and members of staff of the railway stations and shopping centres for allowing us to collect on their premises; the police for their assistance; the BBC for media coverage; and finally, the volunteers who participated.
