Before and After: A look into the activities during The Sixth Executive Council meeting for the term 2011 – 2014 - Mumbai, India

The Sixth Executive Council meeting for the term 2011 – 2014 took place on Saturday 4th January 2014 in Mumbai, India.  With over 60 delegates, invitees and volunteers, it was an opportunity for individuals from around the world to update each other on their work and discuss various matters concerning The World Federation’s activities.  This included planning for the Triennial conference which will IinshAllah take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in May 2014 and the presidential elections later this year.

Welcome dinner for the delegates
On Friday 3rd January, The Executive council meeting was preceded by a welcome dinner hosted by the Mumbai Jamaat for the President and Office Bearers of The World Federation, Regional Federations, Councillors and community members. 

With over 250 individuals also attending from in and around Mumbai, it was a fantastic opportunity for members of Mumbai Jamaat to meet The World Federation team and for the team to discuss issues directly with the Jamaat members.

There were a number of speeches during the evening, including short speeches from Brother Ali Akbar Shroff, Hon Secretary of Mumbai Jamaat and Dr Asgar Moledina, President of The World Federation.

The World Federation Education Excellence Conference
On Sunday 5th January 2014, the first ever Educational Excellence Conference was organised by The World Federation in Mumbai, India.

The aim of the conference was to allow donors and agencies of ZCSS, Institutional Leaders and Trustees of Educational centres and experts, to learn and share best practices in Education.  Furthermore, it gave an opportunity for key stakeholders to discuss The World Federation’s strategy in this area with the view to shape the strategy for the next thirty years InshAllah.

The key note speaker for the conference was Professor Amir Ullah Khan, Senior Policy Advisor to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Mumbai Jamaat and JIBA International organise Networking Dinner at Mumbai Jamaat
On 5th January 2014, the KSI Jamaat of Mumbai, together with JIBA International organised a networking dinner for the International Delegates and the Local Mumbai community. The program was well attended by more than 250 community members.

During the evening, short speeches were delivered by Dr Akbar Mohammedali, Mustafabhai Dhanji and Anwarbhai Rajpar on the importance of business networking within the Khoja Community.

The World Federation was warmly welcomed by the Mumbai Jamaat, and during their time in the city expressed their happiness that the The Sixth Executive Council meeting could take place in Mumbai, India.
