The World Federation Eid Message from the President

To Mumineen

Salamun Alaikum

On this joyous and sacred day of Eid Ul Adha, on behalf of The World Federation, I wish you all Eid Mubarak and pray that may Allah [swt] in His infinite Mercy accepts all our ibadah.

Eid ul-Adha starts with the Glorification of Allah and its pinnacle is the sacrifice of an animal representing the total submission to the Creator.  Allah [swt] often tests and tries those whom he loves. He called upon Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice what he loved most. Both Prophet Ibrahim and his son willingly accepted this Divine decree, and proved beyond any doubt of their devotion and submission to Allah [swt].

Perhaps therefore, it is no coincidence that this sacred day representing of sacrifice falls at the end of the Islamic Year.  An ideal time for us to reflect upon our devotion during the year and prepare for the year ahead.  Therefore as we celebrate we must reflect on our daily lives and the sacrifices that still need to be made by us our time,  energies and our resources in the pursuit of creating a society reflecting the will of Allah [swt]and the pristine teachings of the Holy Ahlulbayt [a.s].

Today our community faces numerous challenges that give cause for concern which we must in unison address them by finding solutions especially for:

• Poverty amongst the community members and need for economic upliftment
• Challenge to the Institution of Marjiyaat
• Challenges at local leadership level and need for visionary leadership
• Socio/Cultural challenges of our times and the need to define clarity.

These are some of the dire challenges that lay ahead of us that needs to be addressed and I have no doubt that our Community will stand up and be counted to remedy them.  To remain complacent will only aggravate them and therefore I would like to urge Mumineen to find solutions to these challenges.

At a time when the incessant attacks on the values of Islam are being diluted we must provide resources for our younger and future generations to enable them stay steadfast on the teachings of Ahlulbayt [a.s.] and we sincerely hope our Madrasah programme will achieve this with full participation from the Community.

As always, on this auspicious occasion, I pray that the philosophy of Eid ul Adha rekindles our determination and spirit of sacrifice to reach a goal of working for the greater good, and I appeal to you to sacrifice whatever little we can, be it material or otherwise, in the way of Allah [swt’.
