Updated 13 October 2010
The World Federation of KSIMC has once again written to the UK High Commissioner of Pakistan, Mr. Wajid Shamsul Hasan, further to the similar letters on 6 January 2010 and 15 June 2010, to express its deepest concern over the violence and targeted murders of innocent Shia Muslims in Pakistan. Based on the recent reports and a personal visit of the President of The World Federation to Pakistan, terrorist groups have killed over 100 Shia Muslims and left several more wounded in the areas of Shalozan and Parachinar, Pakistan. Many women and children have been killed, many families left homeless and hundreds of children orphaned.
In the letter, The World Federation recorded its strong condemnation on the killings of innocent Shia Muslims and urged the Pakistani government to take immediate and practical measures to stop the slaughter of the Shia community in the country. It suggested that the killing of innocent civilians was against the pristine teachings of Islam and a travesty of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The World Federation also highlighted its sympathy on the innocent victims who have been displaced by the disastrous floods of July 2010 and informed him that who have already collected and disbursed over half a million dollars of aid, as a humanitarian NGO.
The letter was also sent to the UN Human Right Council and the UK Foreign and Commonwealth office.
