PROPOSED AMENDMENT
As per Clause 17.2.4b of The Constitution, The Council of European Jamaats is proposing the following amendment to Clause 20.1.1 which is currently as:
20.1.1 At least three (3) months before the end of the term of office of the President, the Electoral Commission shall issue a notice to all members inviting written nominations within thirty (30) days of such notice for a candidate for the office of the next term not exceeding three (3) years.
AMENDED TO:
20.1.1 At least One hundred days [100] before the end of the term of office of the President, the Electoral Commission shall issue a notice to all members inviting written nominations within thirty (30) days of such notice for a candidate for the office of the next term not exceeding three (3) years.
RATIONALE
The rationale being to bring in line with the SOP for Election of the President. The 100 days is required to carry out the arbitration process if activated.
