‘Fill My Cup’ Appeal
Information About This Appeal
‘The nourishment of the body is food, whilst the nourishment of the soul is feeding others.” (Imam Ali (as)
What did you have for breakfast this morning?
In the rural areas of Kenya, The World Federation has 3,681 little friends who arrive at school and Madrasah with empty stomachs. Because their parents are not able to afford even a simple meal, many of these children may not have eaten a decent meal in days. Hunger in children is linked to a long list of physical and behavioural problems, from tardiness and absenteeism to anxiety, aggression, and poor social interaction.
Please join The World Federation’s “Fill My Cup’ programme and help us raise funds to fight hunger in Kenya. Together we can make these children smile.
Food is a basic human right. For only $3 USD-CAD / £2 GBP per month per child, you can make sure that each of these children is served a nutritious cup of porridge every morning before they begin their school day. With a full stomach and a peaceful mind, they will become better learners and increase their odds of dropping out of the cycle of poverty.
Our partner in Kenya reported: “Despite current financial constraints every effort should be made to continue this programme. A hungry child will not be able to learn effectively.”
IMPACT OF THE ‘FILL MY CUP’ PROGRAMME By providing a cup of porridge to the students each morning, the “Fill My Cup” programme has: • Seen more children enrolling in the schools and madrasahs • Encouraged the children to arrive at school on time • Made the children feel loved and respected
Children and youth who are benefitting from this food programme are between the ages of 6 and 14 years. The porridge breakfast is cooked fresh every day by community volunteers.
