2012 successful recipients of the Hiridjee Family Loan

This year The World Federation received an overwhelming response for the 2012 Hiridjee Family Loan Scheme. A total of 9 applications were submitted out of which 1 later withdrew leaving 8 applications. All applications received were of very high quality; students are increasingly going the 'extra mile' in involving themselves in school and community projects and events on a voluntary basis as well as achieving excellent grades in their O and A Levels.  The Loan Application Committee (LAC) have deliberated all the 8 applications and we are delighted to announce the successful recipients of the 2012 Hiridjee Family Loan.
 
Zaynab Bashir Akber Damji
Zaynab applied to start her Pharmacy course at Aston University. She is an active member and volunteer of Birmingham Jamaat where she has helped raise funds for Ramadhan Relief as well as her involvement in MAP project. She attended the CoEJ girls camp in Sweden a few years ago and outside the community she has been a volunteer at the British Heart Foundation. During her work experience she has worked with disabled patients.  She has achieved excellent grades mainly As and A* for her GCSE and A Level exams.
 
Asma Khan
Asma who hails from New Brighton in Minnesota has sought to study Medicine at The Windsor University School of Medicine which is an accredited medical school with an excellent academic reputation and whose curriculum prepares students for the USMLE Board exam. Asma's goal in life is to better the lives of individuals who suffer from diseases. Having worked with patients and disabled people she aspires to be the best doctor she can possibly be and help others the way people have helped her during her time of need. She has been a student at the Az-Zehra Madrasah and for her extra-curricular activities she has been the vice president of the 4Winds Multi Culture Group.

Asma Alimohamed
Asma from Stanmore Jamaat is now embarking on a 3 year course as City University to study Optometry. During her extended project qualification (EPQ), she realised that Optometrists have a great future with the scientific and Technology advancements taking place. She teaches Quran at the Shia Ithna'asheri Madresssa (SIM) based in Stanmore. She has actively participated in inter Jamaat Quran competitions, Quran Hifz Competitions, Educational Festivals, Youth Conferences and sports days. She was a past attendee of the Baab-ul-Ilm Camp and has been involved in a host of extra-curricular activities in school and the community. She has achieved excellent grades mainly As and A* for her GCSE and A Level exams.

Sarah Turabali Meghji  
Sarah from Mombasa will be pursuing Radiography at City University, London. Having participated and volunteered in a massive catalogue of school and community activities and events, she obtained an overall 3rd position in the Ramdhan Quran Khani a few years back and is an active participant of the AYN Education Festival. Sarah also volunteered during the 72nd Supreme Council session of AFED which was hosted in Mombasa. She was awarded 2nd prize at the French essay writing competition and has done a placement at the Mombasa Hospital as well as a community attachment at The Coast General Hospital. Having excellent IGCSE grades as well as Edexcel GCE A Levels, she will follow her dream to go to University for further studies and eventually plans to Inshallah open up a Jaffery Imaging Centre in her community.

The World Federation of KSIMC would like to take this opportunity to thank the Hiridjee Foundation for their generosity in providing loans for girls to pursue their higher education and achieve their life long dreams. Inshallah we pray that Allah swt continues to shower the family with blessings and grant them infinite rewards for their continued support towards the field of Higher Education.
