Education beyond the Classroom- A Unique Experience

Updated 1 December 2010

A unique opportunity is available for middle school science and math teachers who wish to explore and learn exciting new techniques of teaching the students to make learning an exciting venture rather than a boring one. Especially in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math, it is critical that teachers are given the opportunity to reinvigorate their classrooms with an evolved teaching style that helps provide students with an engaging and unforgettable learning experience.

Each summer, hundreds of middle school science and math teachers attend the Honeywell Educators @ Space Academy program at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Since 2004, over 1,400 educators from 41 countries and 50 U.S. states and two territories have graduated from the program. Honeywell Hometown Solutions and contributions from more than 1,700 Honeywell employees have underwritten the scholarships for these educators.

During the program, teachers participate in astronaut-style training and simulations, along with activities designed to promote life-long learning in a classroom setting. The program includes 45 hours of intensive classroom, laboratory and training time, focusing on space science and space exploration. All lessons and activities are correlated to National Science and Math Standards and are ready to use in the classroom.

Each Honeywell Educator receives a full scholarship following a rigorous application and selection process involving competing teachers from around the world. All costs for the Honeywell Educators to attend the program including tuition for the six-day program, roundtrip airfare, meals, accommodation and program materials, are underwritten by Honeywell and the contributions of more than 1,300 Honeywell employees.

Three hours of Graduate Credit is available for US $225 through the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. Please visit www.spacecamp.com/educators  for more information. The graduate credit fee is not paid by Honeywell.

Do not pass this invaluable experience of a unique learning experience and apply today to avoid any disappointment.
