Shia Youth Development Project hosts Dr. Murtaza Alidina

In the month of Rajab, Bilal Muslim Mission (Moshi Branch), was visited by Sheikh Dr Murtaza Alidina.

Sheikh Murtaza visited the Shia Youth Development Project (SYDP) Centre. This centre consists of 32 African Shia Youths aged 18 to 24. These students come from different parts of Kenya and Tanzania and live as boarders. They study Shiaism and vocational studies (VETA) including the following professions:

  • Mechanics
  • Electrician
  • Tour Guide
  • Computer Repairs & Maintenance
  • Civil Draftsmen
  • Assistant Pharmacist
  • Carpentry 

The education acquired provides these youth with the skill set to live their lives both independently and in comfort. Three batches of students have already graduated from this programme and have got employment in various parts of the country; one graduate is now working in Dubai. 

Sheikh Murtaza also visited Bilal Moshi Centre which consists of:

  • a prayer hall
  • a hawza with 15 boarders and 6 day students (boys) / 25-35 girls
  • Madrasah
  • Sewing Classes
  • Adult Arabic Classes
  • Nursery School
