60 Mass Marriages were held in Mianwali, Pakistan, 7th July 2013

 On the 7th of July 2013 the World Federation organised 60 mass marriages for Sadaat’s in Mianwali, Pakistan. A total of 2000 guests attended the ceremony.
Mianwali is a district in the northwest of Punjab province in Pakistan. The population is about 1.1 million people where 70% live in the rural areas.  While most of the locals rely on farming and agriculture as a means of income, poverty is still widespread where people find it hard to meet their basic food and nutrition needs.
In a place where ordinary people face tremendous obstacles just to survive, the thought of getting married is like a distant dream because of the financial costs involved. As a result so many men and women remain alone throughout their lives with no hope of marrying.
 To help the newly married couples make a positive and fresh start, household items were gifted to each couple. The cost of one marriage was approximately $602.31.
