The World Federation opens a Zainabiya Diagnostic Centre in Mianwali, Pakistan on the 11th of June 2013

 The World Federation’s Health Department is pleased to announce the launch of the Zainabiya Diagnostic Centre in Mianwali, Pakistan on the 11th of June 2013.

In Mianwali, there exists only one reputable diagnostic centre and the costs of tests are very high. The World Federation saw a need to open up a diagnostic centre which will offer the same services at cheap and affordable prices so that the local people will be able to have good quality tests at a nominal price.

Not only will this centre be providing quality tests at nominal price but with the income generated, it will make Zainabiya Breast Screening Centre self-financing and sustainable to run for years to come. The Zainabiya Breast Cancer Screening Centre was established in Mianwali in May 2012. The centre aims to bring about awareness of breast cancer through seminars, local newspapers, cable network and the local FM Radio station. The centre organises medical camps in different parts of Mianwali to detect breast lumps in women and those women who are found with breast lumps are offered a mammography and FNA (Fine Needle Biopsy) to diagnose the nature of the lumps. The Breast Screening is done at no charge to women with no discrimination to age, class or sect.

An increasing 9% of global cases of Breast Cancer occur in Pakistan. This is the highest incidence of breast cancer in Asia. Only 2.5% of Pakistani Women with breast cancer get treatment. The Lab provides quality diagnostics at affordable prices. Tests include erum calcium, serum phosphorus, alkaline phosphate, FNAC and Histopathology.

We are thankful to Beta Charitable Trust for not only funding the full cost of the Zainabiya Diagnostic Centre, but also providing enough funds for the centre to run for some months before it becomes fully self-sufficient.
