On 19th February 2006, the President of the World Federation Dr Ahmed Hassam officially opened the Autistic Centre in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, in the presence of the Chairman of Africa Federation El Hajj Ramzan bhai Nanji, Chairman of Dar es Salaam Jamaat El Hajj Anwer bhai Dharamsi and other leaders of our community. This, a dream project of Marhum Mulla Asghar M M Jaffer, will be unique and one of its kind in the whole of Central and East Africa. It will provide diagnosis treatment and rehabilitation for children with autism and other disabling and chronic condition.
Autism is a disorder marked by severe difficulties in communicating and forming relationships with other people, in developing language, and in using abstract concepts, creating repetitive and limited patterns of behaviour, and obsessive resistance to tiny changes in familiar surroundings.
