The 5th pilot assessment of a madrasah was undertaken at Sharikatul Hussain Saturday Workshop, Leicester on 9th February 2013. Eight assessors who were trained in Birmingham last year carried out the assessment process.
The process outlined in MCE’s Madrasah Assessment and Evaluation Programme was followed throughout the assessment. The assessors discussed the results of the self-assessment with the madrasah management, interviewed the staff and volunteers, observed some lessons and spoke to students and parents. Overall results of the survey of parents and teachers undertaken by the madrasah were shared with the assessment teams. The assessment ended with the assessment team giving preliminary feedback to the management. A draft written report was sent to the madrasah for checking the factual accuracy. Every MCE trained madrasah assessor in UK has had the opportunity to partake in a pilot assessment.
Sister Sukaina Fazal, Head of Sharikatul Hussain Saturday Workshop, had this to say following the assessment:
“Alhamdulillah, the assessment overall was very informal. Though the assessors were professional in their approach, they were very warm and friendly and all of us at the workshop, including the parents, took to them. For me specifically, it never felt like a daunting assessment but more like an assessment that drew out the best we do at the workshop and offered us support in areas to take us to the next level. It was truly a remarkable experience, one that all Madaris should undertake!”
