WF Qum Office holds Gujarati programme to commemorate the Shahadat of Imam Husain (AS)

Updated 28 December 2011

Al-Hamdolillah a second programme was conducted in Gujarati to commemorate the Shahadat of Imam Husain(as), the language and culture for which our Grand Marja Ayatullah Sistani (ha) has emphasized for our community.

The programme commenced with the recitation of The Holy Quran, followed by Dua e Kumail, Marsiyah and lecture by Sheikh Kumail Rajani in Gujarati.

In his lecture, Sheikh explained that there are two major types of followers regarding a religion.  The first are followers who simply follow the religion without any understanding while the second are followers who follow with a thorough understanding of the religion. This was derived by Sheikh Kumail Rajani from the famous tradition of Imam Husain (as) where he says:

People are the slaves of this world and religion is just on their tongue. They keep it as long as it meets their comfortable life. But when the test comes, religion holders become very few.

He added that our community is gifted with the first type of follower and these individuals should try and reach the state of the follower who understands what he is practicing.

All the companions of Imam Husain (as) were those who had understood their religion extremely well and were ready to sacrifice each and everything they had for their religion. Those who did not join Imam Husain (as) despite of being invited by Imam were mere followers of the religion without having enough insight to choose the path of Aba Abdillah al Husain (as)

In the second part of his lecture, he continued with an academic discussion on the famous Ziyarat  al-Nahiyah which is said to be narrated from Imam al-Mahdi (atfs).  He explained that there are at least three Ziyarat which are attributed to Imam al-Mahdi, among which Ziyarat al-Nahiyah with the names of Shuhadah of Karbala should be from Imam al-Askari (as) as it has been dated with 252 A.H., the year which is before the birth of Imam al-Mahdi (atfs)

The programme ended with Nauha and Ziyarat followed by Niyaz.
