Sister Fatima Sohawon of Toronto, is one of the fortunate mentors to have been selected to attend this year’s Madinah and Bab Summer Courses.
In her anticipation of the start of this momentous journey, she writes:
There is now about a month left before the mentors and participants will embark on a journey that will bring about a beautiful reformation in one if not many aspects of our lives. I still remember my thoughts before my first time coming for the ziyarat of Imam Ali Ridha (as) and his beloved sister Bibi Masuma-e-Qum (sa), and the delight of having such a blessing. My feelings are the same, however this time I feel so grateful and humbled at the fact that my visit back to these infallibles was so soon, and not only do I have the chance of another ziyarat, but this time I have the pleasure of attending to the guests of our Eighth Imam. I had surely not known one year ago that I would be back to serve my Imam; Alhamdulillah I look forward to being part of this amazing experience once again.
The aura of peace and harmony of Qum and Mashhad is something one can only find in these holy cities. In attending these courses I have found a home away from home, with my brothers and sisters in faith as we come together and pay our respects to our Ahlul Bayt for the sake of attaining nearness to Allah. The sense of unity and spirituality that radiate throughout the events of these three weeks are attributes I cannot effectively express in words, thus I pray for all of you reading to have the chance to visit at least once in your lifetimes if not many more, inshallah!
As a mentor I pray that I can fulfil my duties to the best of my abilities, and that the preparations and hajaat of everyone involved in this event be accepted, inshallah.
