COMMUNITY is in mourning of this great servant of AHLUL BAYT A.S and we pray that Allah grants him the best of blessings and glory... Ameen. Indeed, the legendary servant of our community is no more with us ……By far he will remain in the chronicles of the our community forever and ever…

A Leader of Great Wisdom, Intellect and of farsighted Vision, he was a Devoted, Selfless and Sincere Social Worker of the Community.

On the behalf of the management we offer condolences to the family and the community. We are still trying to cope with his absence and realize that we will never be able to fill the vacuum he has left behind.

As the Management sends this message out to you all, I am filled with a deep sense of sorrow and grief. Never did I imagine that I would be eulogizing our dear departed Murabi Saheb Akberbhai - valuable community worker and preacher.

But, Alas, reposing our faith in Allah we remind ourselves of the injunction in the Holy Qur'an: Inna Lillahe Wa Iinna Ilayhe Rajeuun. "From Him we come and to Him we return.” This should be a reminder to us that every day we are walking towards our death.

Akberbhai was part of the fabric our community and a Zakir of Alhul Bayt. We were all immensely proud and grateful for the work he has done in Azadari of Imam Hussein. He stood for the notion that the common good of the community, serving Allah and that the needs of our community should be met through collective responsibility.
Indeed, Marhum was a very valuable worker with candor and sincerity, which matched with his spirit of optimism. He served with sincerely with his heart. He was community worker with a vision and he left no stone unturned to bring progress to the community.

Our thoughts are with his family. We mourn with them; united in grief at our common loss and gratitude to Allah for the time he gave this servant of His to uplift our community's aspiration. We thank Allah for his life of inspirational service to our community. May Allah rest his soul amongst the 14 Masumeen (a.s.) and to give us tawfeeq to serve in His cause?

Marhum’s memory will echo for years to in the minds of many who knew him, it is a moment of great sadness and shock across the Shia Ithna-Asheri community in North America , and beyond its borders in Africa and India. Akberbhai left magnificent and indelible footprints on the path of the history of our community in Allentown.

Akbarbhai was a unique leader and a champion of unity and deeply mindful of the welfare of the community. “Ek Bano, Nek Bano” was his slogan. He always left favorable and lasting impression over those with whom he came across in contact. Only few are blessed with the opportunity to leave such an imprint in life.

The family especially Anverybhai and Mohamedraza have sacrifices and their devotion towards imparting religious knowledge in Al Ahad Madressah remains enshrined in the history of our community, going back to several generations.

The generosity of the Family is un matched & knows no bounds and whose philanthropy is not timid. Even in the children and grandchildren. Let me mention Sister Anisa first ever donation of two thousand donation was first work earning and first donation in the Quick books toward parking lot. Same goes for the Asif Musa this was how they were trained.

He has left behind five daughters, a son, a brother five grandchildren and three great grandchildren

I have met the Marhum many times during last two weeks, and a visit with my treasurer Br. Mir was very touching ad seeing the entire family around him was heart breaking. Indeed, a visit to see him with my son Abbas who still remembers him giving small white candy when at chew street. But I need to talk about the meeting I had three weeks at home when he was fit as a fiddle. The five things he said to me and on Monday I documented. I may have shared with one person. But let me share what he said.

1. Allah has given the best of best daughters
Sr. Anvery Sr. Jamila, Sr. Shamim, Sr. Zarina & Sr. Yasmin He was full of praises and specially of sister Anverybai who is very hard working and caring. He said I miss Dr. Ali Musa specially now.

2. Than he talked Anisa, Fatemah, Asif, Aliraza & Kazim Ali Than I said to him you have two beautiful flower & petals to protect. He was full of praises for his grandchildren and looking at that made him happy, he said and loves them dearly.

3. Than he talked about the first days in Allentown and the sponsor, the work at PPL Western (Lucent) and the first car he bought for $1,500.00.

4. Than he talked about Shabbir Bhai. Shabbir Bhai, he had full of praises for you and the trail & tribulations of the first days in Allentown.

5. Lastly, I asked what advise you would like to give to the community and myself - - He said EDUCATE your children

I asked him what other advise he said educate your children in secular and Religious And I asked again he said teach Akhlaq to the children.

With that said The SIJPA management is establishing an education memorial fund in the name of Akberbhai for the needy youth of Allentown. Details will be work with the Family, Management and NASIMCO.

SIJPA Management also gave the President’s Citation last Wednesday it reads as follows:

“This is to express our deepest appreciation for your untiring efforts, love, devotion and continued support beyond measure to Al Ahad Islamic Center. We are forever indebted to you for your outstanding dedication and service to our community”

To summarize, Akberbhai was one of the founding members of the Allentown Jamaat over 40 years ago in 1970s. He was born in Uganda in 1931 and went to India for further education. He got married and returned to Uganda where he opened his first general merchandise store in a town called Jeza. A few years later, he opened another store in Masindi. In Uganda, Akberbhai was involved with the Jami-ul-Muslimeen Anjuman, an organization of Muslim communities in Uganda. He served as the Zaakir for the Jamaat, the Khoja Shi’a Ithna Asheri Jamaat of Masindi until they got a Resident Alim. He was a member of the Lion’s Club and participated in local sports. He was the first President of the Allentown Jamaat. On November 7, 1972 (27th Ramadhan 1392 A.H.), Akberbhai and his family left Uganda with the help of the Red Cross to Europe first and then migrated to USA. I would like to quote Akberbhai from an article which was published by the Africa Federation’s Federation Samachar exactly four years ago in April 2010:

“One key practice that we maintained while in Rome and in Naples was observing the Thursday night prayers of Dua-e-Kumail, Sura-e-Yaasin, Majlis and Ziarat-e-Waritha.
In addition, observing the Wiladat and Shahadat of the Holy Personalities of Islam was also maintained. I am thoroughly convinced that it was these prayers and the Azadari that we held onto that helped us in many ways”
He never missed the Thursday program. On a personal note, his best advice for the community is to encourage all our children and grandchildren to obtain the finest education after high school.
His best gujrati quotes were
“JYAAR THI JAGYAA, TYAR THI SAWAAR” and “EK BANO TO NEK BANO”

Let us all please recited Sura-E-Fateha for Marhum Akberbhai Rajmohamed
