Al Itrah Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Tanzania, recently was recognized in The Guardian Newspaper.
Al Itrah was commended for their efforts to educate and attract people to their religion, and to become more spiritual and god-fearing. This effort was transformed into the creation of a spiritual radio station to cater to Tanzanians. The main focus, says Abubakar Amin, the station manager of the new broadcasting facility, Radio Maarifa is villagers living in rural areas in Tanga region. The objectives of opening of the new station would be, according to Amin, is to be able to reach all villages in Tanga region.
It is the hope that that by reaching the villages that are isolated, individuals will be able to education themselves about various topics, including religion, current affairs economic, spiritual developmental and social affairs.
