BMMK - Muharram 1435 Report

With the sighting of the moon of Muharram, for the first Islamic calendar month, which Muslims across the globe commemorated by mourning  the great martyrdom of Imam Husayn (AS), the Grandson of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW), and the tragic events of Kerbala.  The Mission conducted various activities in the rural villages and in Mombasa for the first ten days of Muharram for performing azaadari of Imam Husayn (AS).

BMMK Centres:

Majaalis were conducted in all the 15 centers of BMMK. Special sessions for women were conducted by the students of Az Zahra Madrasah, Mombasa, Bilal Muslim Mission and WIPAHS - Tanzania.

On Ashura day juloos procession were oragnised at all centres where people walked for about 2-3 kilometers before converging at a common meeting point. Speeches were delivered to mu’minin in their local languages followed by Salaah.  Niyaz and Juice was served to mu’mineen.

 

 

In Mombasa

Majaalis were conducted at Bilal Hall Mombasa commenced from 5th to 13th November 2013. Mu’mineen from within and outside Mombasa city gathered for maghribayn prayers followed by Lectures from various speakers on Imam Husayn (AS) and his principles, importance of Muslim Unity, Imam Husayn’s (A.S) teachings into practical application in our day to day lives and others.  The lectures ended with poems on the tragedy of Karbala.

 

Radio Programs

A special 5 part series of radio programs was broadcasted on Pwani FM 104.7 from the 8th to 12th November 2013. In each program a question was posed to the audience; those who answered correctly were rewarded with reading materials on Imam Husein (A.S).

On Ashura night, a special radio broadcast was aired on the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation’s (KBC) Swahili Service, where audience from within and outside Kenya had an opportunity to learn the lessons derived from Imam Husayn’s (A.S) revolution.
