The leaders of Britain's three main political parties have issued a joint statement urging more support for refugees fleeing Syria's civil war.
The three leaders, David Cameron, Ed Milliband, and Nick Clegg threw their support behind a UN appeal to raise £4 billion to help Syrian refugees.
They commented that the fate of a Syrian generation " hangs in the balance" with more than 9 million affected.
"This is an urgent humanitarian issue that transcends the difference of party policies" it added.
This appeal to raise £4 billion, launched recently by the United Nations is the largest appeal in its history.
We at The Council of European Jamaats joins hands in supporting this humanitarian appeal and requests the mu'mineen in contributing generously towards this noble cause.
These children have lost everything they have ever known. They have seen their loved ones killed, they have lost their friends and their homes and they are running for their lives - all before they have even reached the age of double digits. Now they are facing another terrible danger - the bitter cold and the horrendous sanitation.
Let us dig deep into our pockets to at least try and alleviate the miserable plight of these children and to stop an entire generation of Syrian children being lost to the conflict.
This is the least we can do.
