On Sunday 17 March 2013, The World Federation of KSIMC hosted a live telethon appeal on Ahlulbayt TV to raise funds and awareness for the Pakistan Genocide Appeal in the wake of the escalating violent attacks across Pakistan. The response both during and following the telethon has been fantastic and we have Alhamdullilah raised over £9,000 from the telethon and donations received in the week after the live televised appeal.
The World Federation extends its heartfelt gratitude to all those who have come together to support this appeal for the benefit of our brothers and sisters in Pakistan and around the world who live in fear and oppression every day.
The much needed funds will inshAllah help those affected in Pakistan with day to day support, including covering the costs of medical care, temporary housing and food. The World Federation is also looking into the long-term support that can be provided to those affected by these terrible attacks to inshAllah help them rebuild their lives.
In 2012, 173 separate attacks took place in Pakistan where over 700 people were killed. In 2013, these attacks have increased and continued to target minorities in Pakistan.
Shan-E-Abbas Hassam, the Secretary General of The World Federation, comments:
