Syria, the heartland of so many sacred shrines and graves is also a country where one will find widows, families, children and the elderly living in dire poverty.
This year, aid through the Ramadhan Relief program was distributed to both Sayyid and non-Sayyid families across Syria including Sayyida Zainab, Fu’aa, Homs, Ziyabiya, al-Salihiya, Sidi Miqdad, Shara’Amin and Bahdaliya:
- Financial support was provided to a number of Sayyid and non-Sayyid families
- Food rations were distributed among 81 deserving families in and around Sayyida Zainab
- Food rations were distributed to 45 families in Fu’aa
Among those who received aid through the Ramadhan Relief program in Syria, was a poor widow who did not have any work or financial resources to support her family. Her elder daughter is terminally ill and her second daughter is suffering from paralysis and a blood clot in her brain. Her husband was killed in Iraq. Through this program, she received financial support to alleviate some of her hardships during the Holy month.
