World Federation was visited by one of its front line worker working in Iraq who discussed the plight of orphans in various regions. Following the recent atrocities in Najaf and other areas in Iraq, most widows, orphans and the poor are suffering because of lack of income and lack of security outside the homes. He has requested for funds so that he can deliver food to them immediately. The World Federation has pledged £5,000 towards this cause and mumineen are requested to donate generously towards this noble cause.
The World Federation is also helping to repatriate Iraqi Refugees back to Iraq. Most of the ones repatriated so far went back to their lands in the rural districts and the marshes. As reported on 19 July 2004 , 54 families comprising 279 men, women and children have already been repatriated. Another 50 families are in the process of being repatriated. For just £100 you can help a family go back home in Iraq.
The people who have suffered from recent atrocities in Najaf will also need to be helped. We will let you know as soon as a programme is worked out. At present we are concentrating on medical help, welfare of orphans and repatriation of refugees.
