Dear brothers and sisters,

Salamun Alaikum,

I begin in Allah’s name, for He is the most beneficent and merciful. To Him belongs all the worlds and it is He who we shall return to.

As I pen this statement, the community has made its choice for its future. I pray to the Almighty to give Dr. Ahmedbhai Hassam the strength to carry out the duties required of him and the community to work together to make the correct decisions in these challenging times. During this election, it was pleasing to see community participation in terms of voting but there is a need to increase this participation.

Whatever opportunities Allah (s.w.t) gives us all, it is with the contentment and yearn to continually serve Him that I say the following to you. I humbly thank the Almighty for giving me the opportunity to stand as a candidate for the World Federation for the term 2003-2006. And further, from the bottom of my heart, I thank all those who participated in this election. Jazakallah.

 When I began this journey, I used the words ‘Islam in Principle and Action’ and I would like to end this statement on them. These words, of which I have summarised, were expressed by our Holy Prophet, Muhammed (s.a.w) and followed by Imam Ali (a.s). May Allah send blessings on Muhammad (s.a.w) and his progeny. And, may He give us all Tawfiqat to carry out His work for His pleasure. Amin.
