Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania: Free eye camp at Kilwa Kivinje – Dar es Salaam

Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania organised a free eye camp at Kilwa Kivinje, a coastal town south of the capital city, Dar es Salaam from 31 December 2009 to 2 January 2010.

Forty successful cataract operations were performed by Dr. Dilawer Padhani while 1085 spectacles were dispensed by Alhaj Anwer Merali and his team of opticians and volunteers.

As the camp was in progress the lady volunteers distributed exercise books and other stationery to the children. Seven schools in the vicinity received a donation of primary school text books.

The residents of Kilwa turned out in great numbers and many were not screened due to scarcity of time, The Mission is planning to organise another camp so as to serve the remaining.
