ASG of Islamic Education visits Madagascar

Updated 29 February 2012

The Assistant Secretary General for Islamic Education, Sayyid Aliraza Naqvi, visited Madagascar between 10 – 17 February 2012, at the invitation of the Regional Council and INISMA (the Bilal Tableegh Centre of Madagascar), under the auspices of Africa Federation. The Centre has been built to offer significant services to the local people in Madagascar in the field of Tableegh.

Sayyid Aliraza then visited the Madrasah of Antananarivo Jamaat, and was impressed to see the wonderful work taking place. He delivered a presentation on The World Federation’s Madrasah Centre of Excellence (MCE) and explained the different areas of work: curriculum development, teachers training, resources, and assessment and evaluation.

The reaction of the Madrasah teachers and management was extremely positive and they expressed their excitement in working with MCE, and have requested that their specific needs of Gujarati and French language be addressed within the MCE plan.

He also visited the boys Hawza, also funded by INISMA, and which is run by Shiekh Munir. He was particularly pleased to see a very robust Hawza syllabus and system for the secondment of graduates to the country’s interior.

The visit to the Hawza provided Sayyid Aliraza the opportunity of speaking with a number of the Khoja Muballigheen whom he briefed them on the activities of The World Federation’s Islamic Education department. A partnership is being cultivated to begin some initiatives in Tableegh with these Muballigheen.
