Meet the Islamic Education mentors on the Madinah and Bab Summer Courses – Part 2

Updated 30 May 2012

Over the next few weeks, we will be introducing you to the mentors that have been appointed to accompany the group this year.

3. Fatima Sohawon – Toronto, Canada
Fatima is 19 years old, and is currently in her first year studying Public Policy and Political Science at the University of Toronto. She enjoys being active both on campus and throughout the community. She has volunteered with youth events in annual camps at Al-Mahdi Islamic Centre, and works with the Muslim Association at university.

Fatima enjoys helping others and bringing a positive impact to society, especially the youth. She is keen on interfaith dialogue, Islamic discussions, philosophy and theology.

Fatima states: ‘It is by the grace of Allah (swt) that I have been granted another opportunity to visit the beloved Ahlul Bayt (as) in Iran. My first ziyarat was last year, and has this completely changed my life. As a mentor, I look forward to being a part of, and assisting this life-changing experience that the participants will come across this year insha’Allah. It will be a time of growth, learning, and spirituality for the group and I as we embark on a journey of friendship, knowledge, and enlightenment together. I pray that the youth find as much of amity and solace as I did my first time, and that I am able to comfort and support them during every step of the way.’

4. Huda Fatimah Jaffer – Leicester, UK (currently studying in Qum)
Huda was born and brought up in Leicester. She completed her studies at college and then proceeded for further education at Jamia tuz Zahra in Qum. Having lived in Qum for one year now, she is working towards a degree in Islamic Studies and looks forward to spreading the knowledge of Islam.

Huda commented: ‘It’s definitely an honour to be living in the holy city of Qum and with an opportunity to spread and gain knowledge. Inshallah with the helping hand of our Imam e Zamana (ajtfs) I look forward to the spiritual gain by being a mentor.’
