Earlier this year, The World Federation sent a team to Lebanon to film a documentary that looks at the lives of Syrian Refugees in Lebanon. This documentary is both eye-opening and heart-breaking as you see the struggles and difficulties our Syrian brothers and sisters have faced and are continuing to face.
The documentary can be viewed on YouTube here
The situation in Syria continues to intensify and the latest UN statistics state that there are over 1.8million Syrian Refugees. This has been the worst refugee crisis that the world has seen for over 20 years.
The World Federation through its Syrian Refugee Appeal has been working to assist our Syrian brothers and sisters through humanitarian aid since the start of the conflict. For over two years now, we have been providing relief to those families who have fled their homes and lost everything. These families have no support and no-one else to turn to. The World Federation has in particular been quite active in Lebanon to assist Shia families through this difficult time.
Furthermore, more recently, through our annual Ramadhan Relief Fund, we allocated $150,000 USD to assist Syrian Refugees during the Holy Month of Ramadhan. As the price of basic commodities, such as food, continues to increase, The World Federation distributed food parcels to Syrian Refugees to make the month of Ramadhan that little bit easier.
As you will have seen, the Syrian conflict continues to get worse and over recent months, we have also seen attacks on the shrines of Sayyeda Zainab (sa) and a number of the companions of the Holy Prophet (saw) and Imam Ali (as).
The World Federation is committed to assisting our Syrian brothers and sisters through humanitarian aid and we are hoping to raise $500,000 USD to continue our work in this area.
We are counting on your support to achieve this target, so please do donate generously.
