Ramadhan is always an emotional time as the generosity of donors from around the world is deeply felt by those who receive support though Ramadhan Relief. Our agency said: “The recipients of this year’s programme were very happy to get the relief amount. We could see tears of happiness on their faces, particularly the widows, old men and disable persons. Our representatives visited door to door to reach the poor and distressed Non-Sadats. Most of the recipients prayed and wished their thanks to The World Federation and its donors for providing relief before Eid ul Fitr. Many of them said that this relief will make their children happy to have something at least on Eid.”
The population of Bangladesh is about 15 million. Out of the 10,000 Shia Ithna Asheri Muslims who make up this amount, about 90% live below the poverty line.
Poverty and illiteracy are the main challenges that face the Muslims of Bangladesh.
Al Haj Asgharali Moledina, President of The World Federation stated: 'The work done through Ramadhan Relief helps people all over the world. In Bangladesh, the work has helped widows, orphans and seniors gain basic necessities which will provide some help and some respite during the Holy month. We pray to Allah (swt) to thank those community members that have made this work possible.'
