Appointment of the Deputy Secretary General for the term 2011-2014

The World Federation Secretary General, Shan-E-Abbas Hassam has duly appointed Sadiq Datoo to the post of Deputy Secretary General for the term 2011 – 2014.
 
Sadiq was born in London, UK, in 1981. He is the eldest in a family of three. His father Mustafa was born in Zanzibar and his mother Sayyeeda was born in Moshi, Tanzania. They migrated to the UK in the early 1970's. Sadiq is married to Shafana Jessa and together they have a young son.

Sadiq completed his Primary and Secondary education in London and went on to complete an HND in Computing in Southampton and a BSc in Internet Computing at Essex University where he was elected as the vice president of the university watersports club.

Since graduating he has founded an IT Consultancy, LMNO.co.uk which focuses providing internet and technology solutions to Non Profits and Small Business. He has also been responsible for organising the first two annual PHP UK developers’ conferences and is heavily involved in other developer communities.

Using his experience and knowledge in the computing industry he has assisted the community in implementing systems that allow  Dua translations to be displayed, developed the websites of many of our community organisations and worked with them to improve their use of technology. Sadiq is also currently working with CoEJ, The World Federation and other non-profit organisations on various IT projects and has recently become a mentor to other IT professionals providing support to UK based charities.

Sadiq has been involved in community work from a young age, always there in the background helping where he could. From 2001 to 2009 Sadiq has been involved in the CoEJ Sweden Summer camp in various capacities, Media & Photographer, First Aider and Camp Administrator. Since taking photos at the camps, he has tuned his photography skills and trains budding photographers. Sadiq was the Chairman of the Youth Desk at CoEJ from 2006-2009 and worked closely with the CoEJ Secretariat on other projects. Sadiq was appointed as ASG for Communications and Marketing of The World Federation of KSIMC in 2010.

Sadiq said "I feel honoured to be given this opportunity to serve my community working alongside an energetic and talented team. Inshallah I will do justice to this role and play my part in helping this organisation and community develop and progress."

Shan-E-Abbas Hassam said: ‘I am delighted to appoint Sadiq Datoo as the Deputy Secretary General. He has years of experience at both CoEJ and The World Federation and is someone who will no doubt help develop our Secretariat. Sadiq is a hard worker who thinks out of the box to provide solutions. I look forward to working with him closely.’
