Eid-ul-Adha Message from the President of The World Federation – 1431 AH

Updated 16 November 2010

“And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice” (Holy Qur’an, 37:108)

As we celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, we remind ourselves of the historic offering of Prophet Ibrahim (S) which was considered as ‘Zibhin Azee’ - a Grand Sacrifice. On this day of Eid-ul-Adha, on behalf of The World Federation of KSIMC, I wish you all Eid Mubarak and best wishes and pray that Allah (SWT) in His infinite Mercy accept all our Ibadah of the Day of Arafah.  Ameen.

Nabi Ibrahim (S) was a ‘friend of Allah’ (khalilullah) who was prepared to sacrifice his own son for the sake of the Almighty. The concept of ‘sacrifice’ is a supreme quality that distinguishes human beings (Insan) from the rest of creation.  It was the constant sacrifice of our beloved Prophets (S) and Aimma (AS) that enabled us to attain the message of Islam in its purity. Likewise, it was the sacrifice of our forefathers that facilitated our path towards the madhab of the Ahlul Bayt (AS). Let us not forget the contributions of Mulla Qadir Husein Karbalai, Dewji Jamal, Killu Khatau, Haji Naji, Jaffer Ali Aseer and many others who sacrificed their energy, wealth, positions in society as well as their precious lives for our community to be guided toward the path of the Ahlul Bayt (SA).

As I pen this message to you, I too take stock and reflect upon the tasks and projects undertaken by The World Federation and the sacrifices of its past leaders, especially Marhum Mulla Asgherali M.M. Jaffer, to uphold the core values our esteemed organisation:
  1. To promote the Shia Ithna-Asheri faith throughout the world;
  2. To relieve poverty amongst the members of the Community;
  3. To educate members of the community.
I humbly appeal to one and all to continue in the path of our elders and sacrifice what we have to uphold these sublime values. The Constitutional Conference next month, the upcoming Madrasah retreat, and the months of mourning (Muharram and Safar) are few such opportunities whereby our community will be blessed with a chance to reflect with the tawfeeq of sacrificing our time, wealth and energies in upholding these values.

On this auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, I appeal to you to sacrifice whatever little we can, be it material or otherwise, for the cause of Almighty. Once again I wish you all Eid Mubarak.

Dr. Asgar Moledina
