Updated 28 August 2013
On Sunday, the 25th of August 2013 the ground breaking ceremony for the Haji NazarAli Imambargah, Kurla project was held. This ceremony was to celebrate the beginning of the redevelopment of the Imambargah which was originally established in 1921.
The Imambargah has only one hall of approximately 2,000 sq.ft, 4 toilets with no proper segregation between men and women, one kitchen and cleaning area where all the cooking is done. Due to a growing population in the area it was felt that a larger and more intelligently planned space is needed. For this the existing structure needs to be demolished and the imambargah needs to be reconstructed.
The redevelopment will include a madressah, an Imambargah & zaree/rouza for gents and ladies on separate floors, kitchen and storage facilities, an office and meeting room, and additional toilets and wudhoo Khana.
Dr Asghar Moledina, President of The World Federation shared a message to the congregation for the ceremony. In his letter he wrote, “It gives me great pride and pleasure, on behalf of The World Federation to congratulate The Mumbai Jamat on the occasion of the Foundation Laying Ceremony of Nazar Ali Imambargha, Kurla.
This is indeed a remarkable achievement to avail the Mumineen in Kurla of better facilities to conduct their religious and social affairs. It will also cater for a bigger and better madrasah for the upbringing of our children. India is progressing at a rapid pace and I am glad that Mumbai Jamaat is working on keeping pace with the country's progress. We must work hard and with education to see that the spiritual, religious, educational and economic progress of the community keeps pace with the country's progress.”
