President of The World Federation of KSIMC visits Ebrahim Haji Charitable Health Centre

On 6 May 2010, Dr. Asghar Moledina as well as Br. Kumail Manji the Joint Secretary of Africa Federation visited Ebrahim Haji Charitable Health Centre (EHCHC).

They also met with members of ECHCH including Chairman Br. Zulfikar Alimohamed, Joint Secretary Br. Imran Sherali, and EH Adminstrator Br. Abbas Manji. 

Dr. Moledina had the opportunity to meet with ECHCH doctors, the Central Health Board (CHB) representatives, and the Central Medical Board (CMB).

Dr. Moledina met with Dr. Rahim Ebrahim (Medical Director), Dr. Abdul Hirji, Dr. Nasreen Hirji (Physician).

Currently the ECHCH has a well balanced medical team in place with includes visiting specialists such as a Dermatologist, Paediatrician, Cardiologist, Orthopaedic surgeon, Optometrist, Sonologist and a Gynaecologist.

The medical team is in need of an Anaesthetist for current procedures and surgeries.  There is also the need for some life saving and critical equipment in the ICU room.

Dr. Moledina discussed these issues with team and offered suggestions such as creating links with South Africa to gain from their medical expertise.  He also suggested an audit team frequently visit the centre to check on the quality of medical diagnosis and to offer ways to improve the quality of the medical standards.

Shabbir Kermali , CHB Secretary and Shabbir Lalji the CHB Administrator met with Dr. Moledina.  CHB expressed the need for an analysis team to review the current statistics and data to draw conclusive reports and offer advice on how to move the community healthcare and awareness forward.

Dr. Moledina inquired about the success of the CHB insurance plan that has been recently initiated.  The response has not been as successful as expected.  The newly appointed Africa Federation team will be pursuing this plan with the community  in the near  future.

Meeting with CMB
The chairman of CMB Br. Zulfikar Alimohamed along with the other members of the CMB also met with Dr. Moledina during his visit.

Br. Zulfikar mentioned that that Ebrahim Haji Charitable Health Centre has grown significantly over the years, now seeing up to 40,000 patients annually.

He outlined some of the developments such as the new-look laboratory which was inaugurated in March 2010 by the immediate past Chairman of AFED, Al Hajj Ramzan Nanji. 

The group provided updates on various items including equipment, recruitment of doctors, expansion, and future plans.

Dr Moledina stated “The World Federation of KSIMC together with Africa Federation is committed in assisting Ebrahim Haji Charitable Health Centre in attaining the best standards in health services for the benefit of the community and general public at large in Dar es Salaam.”
