On Wednesday 30th May 2012, Nazirbhai Panju Jessa facilitated a meeting at The University of Buckinghamshire in Luton, for the President of The World Federation, Dr Asgher Moledina to meet the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Les Ebdon. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (External Relations), Professor Ashraf Jawaid, the Dean of the University Business School, Dr Sonal Minocha and Jafferbhai Dharamsi.
Nazirbhai has been associated with the University since 1994 and has sat on some of their committees in the past and is currently a court member of the University. His aim for facilitating the meeting was to explore the forging of a partnership between the University and The World Federation.
During the meeting we learnt that the University of Bedfordshire has had a campus in Oman for the past 10+ years where around 1,800 students are attending courses in higher education at the Majan University College.
There is a similar facility provided in Ajman, Malaysia/Singapore and the University is also in partnership with Kaplan in Hong Kong. At this time the University is in talks to establish a campus in Pakistan and Thailand.
The University is keen to have a presence in Africa and want to explore the feasibility of setting up a campus in East Africa.
